Software Stack Update¶
In order to keep our software environment up-to-date, secure, and performant, we have rebuilt the entire software stack in Q3 2025.
This rebuild ensures better compatibility with the upgraded system (performed in Q2 2025) and provides improved runtime performance across applications. As part of this update, we have discontinued support for several outdated compilers and libraries to simplify maintenance and improve reliability. The old software stack remains available temporarily, but it will be retired on November 1st, 2025.
Key Changes¶
- Default modules in
/storage-apps/Moduleswill be removed - Default modules in
/storage-apps/intel-v.2023/oneapi/modulefileswill be removed - Compiler support for GCC 10.2.x and older has been dropped
- Several redundant or deprecated modules have been removed
Action Required
We recommend users begin migrating their workflows to the new software stack as soon as possible.

There is a new command line tool ssx (Software Stack eXchange) to help users switch between the old and new software stacks.
